Hi,

First of all, thank you very much for this excellent tool. I find myself often converting Garmin gdb files into Tom Tom itn files. Due to the very limited number of waypoints in the ITN I have to decimate the gdb files quite strongly.

It is often a bit awkward that routeconverter always chooses the fastest route between waypoints. Often I want to avoid the autobahn or larger B roads and I'd like routeconverter to show the shortest route. That way I am pretty sure that tomtom navigator will create the same route as routeconverter.

Can you make a selection between the shortest and fastest route in the next version of routeconverter?

Thanks again

Hi Chera,

actually Google Maps which is used for rendering offers only three options:
  • go by car, by public transport or walk
  • avoid highways
  • avoid toll roads

The API to Google Maps only offers
  • driving or walking
  • avoid highways

I guess with shortest route you propose to use the option to avoid highways?
Hi Christian,

Yes, avoid highways as an option would be a great help, especially when converting routes for (motor)bikes. You might also enable an option to switch between walking and driving.

Thanks!

Hi Chera,

the latest prerelease 1.26.1 shows the length of the route that is retrieved from Google Maps next to the number of positions in the position list. And the estimated duration is shown as a tooltip on top. For tracks 'm during the calculation on my own.

And on the 'Misc' tab there's a new option 'Avoid highways' - very useful when planing motor bike trips Cool

I hope you like it?
Thanks! Downloading now.
