New features

- Columbus Fusion track format (Type=GNSS, GNSS with satellite info,
GNSS+IMU, IMU) with device-local timestamps, waypoint/POI/parking
tags, and 3-axis acceleration
- Columbus GNSS GPX support: course/hdop extensions, correct km/h
speed, cb: namespace extensions and standard hdop for new firmware
- New position-list columns: Heading, HDOP, Quality, acceleration
(ax/ay/az) — hidden by default, enable via the column header context
menu
- Parking count and POI count in the track description
- Distance and duration columns in the Browse panel
- All position lists stay visible on the map while you edit one (other
routes/waypoints drawn in a subdued shade)
- Mapbox access token field (Options → API Keys) so Mapbox Satellite
works with your own token
- Web-based help — F1 and the “?” buttons open the matching help page
in your browser
- “Departure time” (Times menu) fills each position’s arrival time
from a departure time
- “Insert positions” at a fixed interval along a straight line
- “Download POI data” checkbox with remaining-size display and the
newest POI catalog (v4)
- Current Google Maps URL formats (place links, ?q=, short links) when
importing
- Opt-in anonymous telemetry and crash diagnostics (off by default)
- macOS: open files directly with RouteConverter (“Open with”)

Fixes

- Selecting redundant positions on a track with tens of thousands of
points is now near-instant and can be cancelled
- F1 over an open menu now opens the help topic of the highlighted
item
- A background position augmentation could crash when the position
list shrank mid-run
- The world-map background is shown under any displayed map, not only
Mapsforge
- The online map is restored correctly on startup
- Mapsforge map popups (New/Delete) trigger on press+release with the
correct focus context
- BRouter: fixed a crash connecting a freshly added position, an
unexpected fallback travel mode, and stale segment/lookup data
- Legacy ANSI-encoded KML/GPX files decode correctly instead of
- OpenStreetMap tiles send a policy-compliant User-Agent

RouteConverter 3.5 is out — a trust-and-stabilisation release.

The Windows installers and the standalone Java artifacts are now code-signed (via the SignPath Foundation), so Windows SmartScreen and Defender no longer warn about them. The app moves to Java 21, the macOS bundle now launches cleanly on Apple Silicon, and there's a round of fixes for download integrity, the background map, and KML/GPX parsing. No new features this time — the POI search arrived in 3.4.

Note: the standalone jar now needs Java 21 or later (the installers bundle their own runtime).

Hello everyone,

Some people have already noticed it: RouteConverter requires Java 17 as a minimum in the prerelease versions. This has allowed many old pieces of code to be removed. The RouteConverter for Windows EXE version no longer searches for a suitable Java on your machine via the Windows registry but via environment variables in this order:

%JAVA_HOME%

%PATH%

Small bonus: with the prerelease version you can now upload error reports and edit the route catalog again. I haven't tested any other versions.

As always, feedback is welcome!
