Hike symbols...gone??
One of the Routeconverter-maptypes I used to be very glad with, is (was) 'Hike Symbols'. Displaying many walking trails, it was a great help either to walk them (for instance: E8 European Long Distance Path), or to design routes yourself. But all of a sudden Hike Symbols seems to have disappeared from the list of available maptypes. It worked fine until the start of June and I did not download another version of RC (working with 2.22 and 2.23). Does anybody know what has happened?
Hallo Jan,

I can configure the list of maps centrally since I don't want to release a new RouteConverter version just to change it.

Since I'm expecting that Google's API Keys with their mandatory credit card registering will mean the end of the usage of the Online Edition, I'm trying to bring the online maps to the Offline Edition. For this I had to refactor a lot of code and I've removed the maps that won't work in the Offline Edition.

You can configure your own maps as described here:

The following XML fragment brings back the Hike Symbols to the 2.23.x releases:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>
<catalog xmlns="http://api.routeconverter.com/v1/schemas/tileserver-catalog">
<tileServer id="Hike Symbols" name="HikeBikeMap with Symbols rendering of OpenStreetMap data" minZoom="1" maxZoom="18" copyright="OpenStreetMap">
"http://" + getOpenStreetMapServerIndex() + ".tiles.wmflabs.org/hikebike/" + zoom + "/" + coordinates.x + "/" + coordinates.y + ".png"

thanks once more for replying so fast. It seems Google with its APIkeys is causing quite some 'challanges' to you. Well, I'm going to try to add the abovementioned code.

Their model is fine for websites with an commercial interest - it simply doesn't work with Open Source projects.

I hope it works for you.
