If I read the original text correctly:

$GPRMC,053115.00,A,2825.17962,N,12140.48870,E,1.010,288.62,180914,,,D*68

should work correctly but

$GPRMC,053115.00,A,2825.17962,N,12140.48870,E,12.999,288.62,180914,,,D*68

will fail
