Hi Christian,
As more than likely a lot of people like like it to start the numbering from the start of the list then it wouldn't be fair to take it away from them.
I would suggest adding it as another option in the list - ie " Choose numbering starting position " or just as an option to start from the second item on the list ( just being selfish here :-) )
What do you think, too much trouble?
