I have 2.17 on Windows 7 with Java 1.8.0_73-b02 and routeconverter frequently crashes when I zoom in using the mouse scrollwheel. I have a track loaded (it is not specific to any one track) and I'm using OSM as background map.
Routeconverter writes hs_err and replay files, I can post them if necessary.
