trouble with Mac

I have exactly the same issue and setup.

Had a working 2.17 on my Mac (same setup as described above), when I started it I was prompted to download and install 2.18. Did so, installed 2.18.5, with the same result as above.
Deleted 2.18, reinstalled 2.17 and now 2.17 doesn't work anymore either.
Deleted 2.17, downloaded 2.18 again: no luck, same issue.
Updated Java to 8.101, same result: routeconverter simply hangs shortly after the start. The menubar displays, but then the app freezes. Too bad, as I really liked Routeconverter...

I can't post the generated error report: the forum system says it is too big a text.
