Google Maps JavaScrip API error DeletedApiProjectMapError

I just downloaded 2.24.1 RouteConverterWindows.exe.  I get the deletedapiprojectmap error (attached screen grab).

The previous version worked fine. 

I can't figure out what will be billed to my card if I get an API key from google.  Does anyone have a simplistic summary?
I also can't find where to put such a key from reading any of the FAQ's.

I am probably doing something dumb (I'm no developer) but any assistance would be great.
