Yes, there are hidden options. For the Windows Registry it's

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\slash\common\io]
"application/Directory"="%USERPROFILE%\.routeconverter"

Please consult the FAQ to adapt that for macOS.
