I believe, feet (ft) should be useful for nautical purposes.

But... dont' forget...

Nautical miles are used in aeronautic context, too.
Flight levels (FL) are separated by 100ft. FL 60 is equal to 6.000ft.

Lat/Long syntax may be different in nautic/aeronautic context.
N 53°37,3' / E 9°59,6' is burned in my brain. Simply the position to be manually entered during repair of inertial reference units at our workshop location (my business since 1984...)
