I've just uploaded a new prerelease version of RouteConverter that uses the KML 2.2 track extensions for the format labeled "Google Earth 5" during saving. Thus timestamps are preserved and Google Earth offers a special display for tracks. Please test and report problems.
I have just tried the prerelease to convert a KML file with "when" tags and I do get the timestamps in the GPX file. I get two copies of the track, one called "Track" and another called "Path (Track)". This is due to the fact that Google Earth saves the track as points with time information and as a track with coordinates and elevation only. It is only the latter that can be edited in GE. When I remove the "Track" from RouteConverter and save the "Path (Track)" as a GPX file I get time stamps on all the points except the ones that I moved in GE.
Is it possible to keep the timestamps for the moved points like you do when moving points in RouteConverter? I much prefer to edit my tracks in GE where I can look at it in 3D and see the elevation at the mouse position.
