Greetings fellow routeconverter users!
This is my first post and I would like to thank the developers for this super software.
To recreate my problem:
1 Export gpx from Garmin BaseCamp.
2 Open gpx (linked to) with routeconverter.
3 Delete the tracks in it.
4 Save it in same format (gpx1.1).
5 Re-open it.
6 The tracks are still there.
4 go mad.gpx

I could reproduce it: there are Garmin RoutePointExtensions in the GPX file, which RouteConverter reads and transforms into tracks. But it keeps them at the original position in the file to not destroy them.
Why do you want to delete the RoutePointExtensions? Just because they're displayed as tracks in RouteConverter?

Thank you for your fast answer.
I place the gpx file produced by BaseCamp in a Garmin GPS' garmin/gpx folder and then import it to the GPS. What happens is that the GPS only seems to use the track. This is a problem if the route is recalculated on the GPS, only the start and stop waypoints remain of the route*. Also if the map used in the GPS is not the same as in BaseCamp the result is not very good. For these reasons I want to only keep the "original" waypoints in the route and let the GPS do the rest.
Add to that the file size is only a fraction.
What I have done up to now is that I delete the tracks and then save it as gpx1.0, that way it seems like a new file is created with only the original waypoints.
I am part of a group of motorcyclists and we use Routeconverter because then we can share routes between Garmins and TomToms with different maps on the units. It works wonderful with the exception of this, for me, annoyance.
Edit: What is so appealing with converting to gpx is that riders without BaseCamp or Mapsource can so easy import the route to their GPS by simply placing the gpx/itn in the garmin/gpx or /itn folder.
*This supposedly also sometimes happens when using BaseCamp to import the route. I never use BC so I can't confirm it.
Thanks.

Would it be helpful for you if I added a
hidden option to RouteConverter that avoids reading Garmin RoutePointExtensions and displaying it as a track?

GPX 1.0 doesn't support extensions - they're lost when converting GPX 1.1 with extensions to GPX 1.0.

No, if that mean the RPE will still remain in the file. I think it is good they are show in RC if they are present in the file.

That information is gold :-) I tried to save it as gpx1.0 as soon as I open the gpx from BC. Then I can delete the "tracks" and the job is done! That is easier than what I did before.
Super sweet would be with a function to erase all RPEs with a function in one of the menus. Like "Purge RPEs" in the PositionsList menu.
Thanks for your time. Now I know why, and how to avoid, undesirable results.
I wrote a tutorial for RC on RideAsia forum, not the best maybe.

Strange - if you like, send me an email or private message with it.

I had the second of your links in mind, "An alternative to Mapsource for Zumo users".
Many people, including myself, thinks Mapsource and BaseCamp are a bit hard to work with so I wanted to bring attention to RC which I think does a better job with less than half the effort. Especially if you use OSM like I do.
Thanks.
