New KMB file format created by Maps.Me
#1
Hello all,

In the last application update, bookmark data was converted to a new format.

Since the Maps.Me application allows me to display OSM background maps, I think it would be a good idea if the new bookmark format could be supported by RouteConverter.

What do you think of that?

Hi and welcome here...

I fear, Christian needs examples to see if new format files can be supported.
Please put example files in a *.zip archive and post it here as attachment.

Hello, Kumo,

Thank you for your answer. Here is an example with Décathlon stores in France.

I manage the source in GPX format files then export them in the format according to the applications or GPS that I use.

In the zip file, you will find
1. The original file (.gpx)
2. The file reworked for the old Maps.Me format (.kml)
3. The file converted by Maps.Me to the new format (.kmb)

.zip   Example with Décathlon stores in France.zip (Size: 17.72 KB / Downloads: 1,063)

Hoping to have been able to bring some content.

The .kmb is unreadable binary stuff - and I couldn't google a tool that reads it.

Even the support of Maps.me recommends to export .kml:

Isn't that an option for you?

Hello Christian,
Thanks for the bookmarks import solution from the Maps.Me application. Indeed, after testing it works.

When updating a bookmarks file, you must delete the local kmb files. drop the kml files to the root of the folder and start the import from the application. It's slightly more complicated than a simple copy and paste, but it works.

Thank you for your precious help.
Sincerely ¦ DDSansBulles.

After updating my Android system some of my bookmarks were lost (those of two years..) I found them under mapswithme/bookmarks section but all of them are in *.kmb format and I cannot find a way to add them back to maps.me. I was trying to convert them to different formats on my computer (*kml.) but that still did not work even after converting. Would you have an idea of how I could solve this issue, please? The example with Decatlon stores in France worked for me. So I think I am converting the files wrong, maybe I am using not the right programs which mess up the data.. Help!

Thank you,
Rosita
