Recover Garmin tcx files
Hello Everyone:

I have a Garmin Forerunner 305 which has now a number of files that both Garmin Training Center and Garmin Connect do not recognize map data. I downloaded RouteConverter and it reads and displays the maps perfectly. I was hoping to re-save the tcx files and perhaps be able to recover these files for use in Garmin Connect.

I have tried saving the files once loaded but the option to save as a tcx file is not available. I have tried saving the file into another format and reloading hoping to save the second time as a tcx file again but the option is not there.

Can anyone please advise.

Thanks, Don

RE: Recover Garmin tcx files
Hi Don, welcome in our forum!

There was a workaround in a german thread, one year before.
It appears that *.tcx is a very flexible format with few documentation.

A quick translation of the important part of the german stuff:

1. Save as *.kml or *.gpz with GoogleEarth or RouteConverter
2. Convert to *.tcx with the online-converter at http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do
3. Import in Training Center as "Route"

Best Regards,
Mathew

Please to save as 'Training Center 1 Course (*.crs)' - is that recognized by Garmin Connect?
