Suggestion : layer display
#1
Hi,

I'm a very happy user of Route Converter, this tool is exactly what I need.
I use it for planning my bike trips, and I discover that I can put multiple tracks or routes in a single file, but I can't display all the lists together.
The lists could be displayed as Photoshop layers.

It could be very useful : creating roads basing on tracks recorded by a GPS.

Many thanks for that soft, and have fun on the road !

Hi krop,

thank you for your suggestion. I've heard this idea before and unfortunately there are severe technical problems: I'm already using several layers and for example split a track into chunks of 22 positions each and display not more than 1500 positions. That is because with large amounts of waypoints the Internet Explorer becomes instable so I took measures to reduce the number of positions used for rendering. For the types route and waypoint list these limits are much smaller. And thats only one aspect. As the map module hides latencies when updating the map this adds more complexity. The map module is the most complex part of RouteConverter.

So if you'd like to spent time on extending the map module: go ahead, check out the source - I'm accepting patches.
