Java on MAC
#1
Java 1.6 is required by both the downladed version and the Web-based versions of RouteConverter, but MAC has not yet released an update to 1.6. How can I make this application work?

Note: In the case of the web-based vrsion, the application starts, but the right-hand side panel does not display the map. It displays "Could not start Web browser" instead

Thanks, Jose

Hi Jose,

Java 1.6 is offered as Java SE 6 on your second screenshot.

Christian,
The 64 bit version was the first option I tried, and still didn't work. Check out the error message in the attached pic.

Christian,
No luck. I did what you suggested but it still doesn't work. The error I get now is different, though. See the pic.
Also, the application now freezes completely and I have to do a "force quit". Any ideas?

Yes, we need to find the bug. The screenshot shows a NullPointerException. I need the RouteConverter.log as described in the FAQ http://www.routeconverter.de/faq/errors/...og-file/en

This might be a bit tedious to find as you might need to change permissions and search for it - are you familiar with the console?

Christian,
I don't have knowledge of these things, however, I was able to manage and get into /tmp/. In there there were a bunch of files and folders and I couldn't find the RouteConverter.log file. I even looked inside the protected folders (changing the access permission) to no avail.

I assume that since the application freezes, it doesn't have time to create the log.

Any other ideas?

Jose

Opening the log is the very first thing that RouteConverter does.

Yes, I think the log file is not called RouteConverter.log but something like RouteConverter2342jddwi2.log

There are no files with created aroud the time I run the app.
Check both my computer's time and the time on the /tmp/ files in the pic. Nothing was created when I tried installing RouteConverter.
