Feature 1:
I opened a GPX file generated by GPS Essentials on my Samsung Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0.3 (Icecream Sandwich). It was recorded during a bicycle ride partly on road and partly on bike paths and across country.
I decided to convert this track to a route so it could be edited in another route-planning application. Much to my surprise the file was not just converted from <trk> to <rte> but also optimised to take a shorter distance and on available roads, presumably by applying the navigation algorithms such as are used in Google Maps and GPS units!
Could there be an option to just convert the file without trying to optimise the route? I mostly want to record trips and then hand edit the resulting route to be used for planning trips for a cycling group.
Feature 2:
Undoing the changes did not restore the track as originally recorded only produced a mess of old track points and new route points. To restore the file it was necessary to exit RouteConverter, then restart it.
Could there be a Close option on the File menu which would simply close the currently open file (with all the usual warnings about saving or not saving changes)? Then you would not have to relaunch RC.

That's exactly what happened.

Just the
display of the route changed from routing on streets based on Google Maps Directions to a direct connection of each waypoint. Your data is still the same.

Yes. Please try File/New...

How about not changing the display according to Google Map Directions, or at least making that an option? The novice will not know that the data points have not been changed but will be spooked as I was.

Since the experienced users expect that a route is a connection of waypoints over streets?
