RC 1.33: Tab "Plan", "Transform track into route"
RC 1.34 (the current pre-release): Menu "Tools", "Delete positions..."
Not nearly as useful as before, where I could click on the icon, then review what was marked for deletion, and unmark the last of them to leave the first and the last of the identical positions, which removed all but one of the duplicates but also showed me the total elapsed time for the 'stop' at that location, be it parked or at a traffic light. Having to tab around or use the menu off of the main list of points is not nearly as easy or nice in my view. It removes a good deal of the functionality I really liked and used all the time. I am not trying to transform a track into a route, but simply delete extra points from the track.
Okay, I downloaded the pre-release and tried the delete positions via that tools tab. An extra step or two, but acceptable once one knows this has been 'added'
Question... The last of the choices is 'Select all redundant positions with a threshold of x meters' and when I use it with 3 meters it selects items from my list that, under distance, show they are far more than 3 meters from the immediate prior or immediate subsequent point. For example, in a route I have loaded right now the distance column is showing 0, 42 and 128 meters for the first three points in the track yet the 42 meter distance line is highlighted for removal. Since the car was moving at 0, 32 and 58 Km/H at those three points, they are far more than 3 meters apart, or even 6 meters apart, so what makes the middle point redundant? Is it simply that the program computes that they are in a straight line, even if removing the middle position results in a distortion of the speed being traveled? In other words, what are the criteria for 'redundant'? I have little difficulty with redundant when the points are in a straight line and at a fairly close speed as well, but when the vehicle is accelerating away from a start in a city, redundant, to me, does NOT include points when the speed is changing so rapidly.
