Blockage of google.com maps
#1
I am located in Uzbekistan. the government redirects all DNS calls to maps.google.com to msn.com to block access to maps. We can access Google maps if you allow us to change the url to something like maps.google.de, maps.google.ru, maps.google.se etc When I load RouteConverter now I get error message that program cant find Google Maps. My language locale is English but I prefer 24 hr clock and ability to change Google URL.

Hello ruddcl,

welcome to the RouteConverter forum. To help you I'm going to make the Google Maps URL configurable inside the routeconverter.html. I'm posting a message here then, ok?

I guess that problem is not easy to solve. Please have a look a the discussion here. Another option could be to introduce a the option to choose an Uzbekian locale - if that has 24 hr clock? Or you might even want to translate the RouteConverter resources?

Thanks for the help on the Google map configuration problem.

I read the long discussion about 12/24 clock formats. I think it could be solved by having English_US, English_UK and English_International locales to choose from. The other alternative of Uzbekistan locale is a possibility but if locale is detected by IP address or Computer configuration we will need a possibility to override those settings.

Actually, in Java the operation systems Locale is the default locale inside the Java VM. I've implemented an option to override this within the Extras/Options... dialog. By default there is a <default> entry activated in the Locale chooser, but you could select another language (aka Locale).

I've just uploaded a new prerelease that allows to configure the maps server with a hidden option. On Windows this works like this:

Quote:Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\slash\navigation\converter\gui\mapview]
"map/Server"="maps.google.ru"

Does this work for you?
