Google maps
#1
Hello,
Since yesterday I have problems with opening google maps as explained in the forum.
But is not possible to select another map like OpenStreetMap.
How can I do this or is there a possibility to change the default map to OSM.

Thanks

Dear tarvr0,

Google requires a credit card for its API Keys. Since I don't want to pay for all the RouteConverter users, I haven't added credit card informations to all the API Keys that I've been using.
Please have a look here how to solve it: https://forum.routeconverter.com/thread-2501.html

Hello,

I did read this information.
But the question was how to change to openstreetmaps and put this map as default map (mapnik) or do you need for this also the google API?

As a workaround I'm currently using the Offline Edition (scroll down on https://www.routeconverter.com/stable-releases/en) This also offers access to some OSM derived online maps. Not all of them work in my case, but it's OK for now.

Which ones work? And which ones not?

Not showing any map (just my track on a grey background):
"OpenTopoMap rendering of OpenStreetMap data (online)"
"Outdoor Active Topographic Map (online)"

"Outdoor Active OAC Summer Map (online)" shows only Germany

I don't see any difference between:

"OpenStreetMap rendering of OpenStreetMap data (online)" and
"OpenStreetMap Default Map (online)"
This is the only one I use (checking/correcting/converting running tracks).

Unimportant little issues:

When switching maps I sometimes have to zoom in/out to make the map appear.

With all maps zooming in and out makes my "Windows default sound" (Windows background.wav) chimes frequently (but not always) without a visual notification.

Windows 10 - 1803 x64, Java 10.01, RouteConverter Offline Edition 2.24

The same here, it seems the Mapsforge library in the Offline Edition cannot fetch a redirect for the tiles and tries to parse the error message as an imag which fails:

Code:

I've fixed that, but it limited to Germany.

They are the same.

That's strange. I'm not aware that RouteConverter causes any system sounds.

I'm having the same issue, did you find the cause?

Not really, but I'm not having those issues anymore. Currently using 2.26 Open Source Edition. I uninstalled Java 11 because it is hard to update and went back to 8.211. So it could be that it was related to Java 11.

Christian is not optimistic about the future of RC, but it does everything I need and I love it.
