RouteConverter and Mac OS X
Hi Harry,

thank you for the testing. I seems that the calls are tripled somewhere between the JavaScript AJAX Call and the Java side. I've added some more debug output (and remove that cluttering of the map). Please test and send me the logs.

Hi,

I tested again.

- 3 x a zoom in action
- 3 x an insert action

Please find the zipped logfile attached.

I must admit, I'm clueless. And I've uploaded another prerelease with even more debug output. Btw, it's enough if you start, insert a position and zoom once.

I can imagine that this is really tricky. After all, it functions on Linux and on windows, and on OSX you get this behavior: strange.

Please find attached a zipped log with one insert and one zoom.

Does this give a hint or is it already "old news" for you or just not relevant: http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#...ation.html (search for right-click)

Ok, I've spent three hours to implement a workaround that should work on Linux and Mac OS X: each callback from the browser is given a unique id and callbacks with the same id are processed only once.

Maybe this is the trick? Please test the latest prerelease, both on Linux and Mac OS X.

It does work! Both on linux and on OSX!
Inserting points works OK, saving the file and reopening works OK, adding another point on the map and move it up or down in the position list works OK.

Thank you very much for all your efforts. I'm glad they are successful. Nothing so frustrating as spending many hours without gaining the desired result.

I will do some more extensive tests tomorrow evening. We've got family around today.

I'm glad to hear that!

Yes. Thank you for your effort, too! This is indeed by far the longest thread here in the forum Cool

I'm looking forward to your test results.

Hello Christian,
I've been following the developments of Routeconverter for OS X for a while now. I think this program is very good, and as a Mac user I really appreciate all the effort that is put into it. So please don't take this as an insult, but since the OS X version is not really working yet, it seems to me that it's still in an alpha fase of development. Shouldn't you mention this on your website instead of presenting it as fully developed and tested software?

I did further tests, especially on OSX, and it works very well.
I did a few tests on Linux, that version also works well, but I did not test that one extensively.

Hi Gerwin,

I wholeheartedly disagree with your assessment, RouteConverter is alpha-software. If its in some state, then it's in constant flow. After 40 releases its conversion-core is pretty stable, the stability of the platformspecific UI parts nicely correlates with the spreading of the platform and the feedback I get: Windows is very good, Linux a bit behind and Mac OS X is basically a pet project from Harry and me.

Remember that this is open source software, not commercial software: it doesn't cost a dime and I lives from feedback and user engagement. If you don't like it, try something else. If it doesn't work, help to make it work. Its simple like this: if your platform represents a tiny niche, you need engaged users that are willing to spend their time helping other users. Most Linux users understand this. Most Mac users seem to forget this.
