Since today a new certificate is used to sign the JARs which is required for Webstart. Unfortunately this showed an error with file names which can only be fixed if you clear the Webstart cache on your machine.

Seit heute gibt es ein neues Zertifikat für das Signieren der JARs, das für Webstart erforderlich ist. Dadurch ist ein Fehler mit Dateinamen offensichtlich geworden, der sich nur durch das Löschen des Webstart-Caches lösen lässt.

Moin moin,
ich bin schon eine ganze Weile am Beobachten, ob es verläßliche Diensten für Geokodierung, Routing und Maps abseits der Giganten Google und Microsoft gibt.
Der aktuelle Stand der Vorabversion ist:
- Geokodierung per Nominatim, geonames.org und Google Maps Geocoding API (alle 3 mit 2500 Requests/Tag bzw. "fair use")
- Routing in der Online Edition per Google Maps Directions API (2500 Requests/Tag)
- Routing in der Offline Edition per BRouter und GraphHopper
- Maps in der Online Edition per Google Maps API (2500 Requests/Tag)
- Maps in der Offline Edition per mapsforge
Kennt ihr Dienste, die auch für Open Source-Anwendungen wir RouteConverter interessant sind, die kaum Budget haben? Welche Erfahrungen habt ihr damit gemacht?

Hi,
starting today Google demands the usage of API keys for Google Maps. Either there was no announcement or I haven't noticed it.
I've been uploading new prereleases and release of RouteConverter which contain a Google Maps API Key.
And I'd like to issue a warning: with the API keys Google is able to track the usage of RouteConverter. As soon as the quotas are exceeded, its not possible to use RouteConverter at that day anymore. You'll see an according error message.
These are the global limits for all RouteConverter users per day (whenever that is for a global company): - 25000 application starts
- 2500 find places queries
- 2500 elevation queries
The quote is pretty small as you can see.
Known workarounds are:- use the Offline Edition
- be thrifty; currently there are only alternative for the elevation service where Google is effectively only queries for oceans.
- help with the implementation of alternatives
- wait until I have implemented alternatives
